Little Citizen of the World is Here Now!

Yesterday, September 9, was the Estimated Due Date (EDD). But little CotW, you didn't hang about! August 15 at 15.26, you introduced yourself as little Alice.

Little Citizen of the World is a little Alice.
It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks since your arrival. We didn't expect you so soon (week 36+3). At only 1,995kg, you are a very small baby. The small size was due to the early arrival but also a yet unknown problem with the placenta, which triggered the early delivery.

Three weeks on, we're very pleased that you've put on a significant amount of weight and as of last week you weighed in at 2,652kg.

Daddy is back to work after his two weeks of paternity leave (far too short!), mormor has been here for a week providing great support and care of us all and on Thursday, grandma is coming all the way from Australia to continue the extra care and help.

Mummy is slowly getting used to what it means being on maternity leave. You are very keen to grow bigger and we do refer to you quite frequently as a food monster. Breastfeeding hasn't been that easy for neither of us as you're a bit small to latch on well and I'm a novice, not quite sure how to help you in the best way. We keep practicing!

We don't sleep that much, eat about every 2-3 hours, mummy does her best to express milk to meet your demand, but every day you will have some Aptamil to complement as well.

You have received a large number of gifts and cards welcoming you to this world. Pink will no doubt need to be your favourite colour at least for these first couple of months!

If you promise to sleep a couple of hours every day, I will promise to keep this blog updated with your adventures these first few months of your life.

Alice nearly 3 weeks old.
